<strong>Augmentative Communication and Environment Control.<\/strong> With this name, in <strong>2007<\/strong> a <strong>research project<\/strong> led by the University <strong>of Barcelona<\/strong> and the Universitat <strong>Polit\u00e8cnica de Barcelona<\/strong> was carried out with a grant from <strong>IMSERSO.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/utacub\/\">Unitat de T\u00e8cniques Augmentatives de Comunicaci\u00f3 UTAC,<\/a><\/strong>a service of the <strong>University of Barcelona<\/strong> in collaboration with the <strong>Generalitat de Catalunya,<\/strong>developed the &#8220;Proposal for the<strong>organization of pictographic vocabulary for computers and communication boards&#8221;,<\/strong>which was concretized in a pictographic communicator called <strong>Comunicador CACE-UTAC.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>From the initial proposal we will make updates of the vocabulary, as well as versions adapted to the needs of users and new technological resources. The <strong>CACE-UTAC Communicator <\/strong> is a central vocabulary that grows with the progress in user communication.<\/p>\n<h3>Project objectives<\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>objectives of the CACE-UTAC project<\/strong> are specified in<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a <strong>vocabulary base, freely accessible,<\/strong>for users of pictographic systems.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a vocabulary that enhances <strong>the development of language<\/strong> in addition to promoting daily <strong>communication.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Offer a <strong>broad lexicon<\/strong> that facilitates the necessary <strong>customization.<\/strong> Professionals and family members select the appropriate vocabulary according to the person and the context.<\/li>\n<li>Organize a support product for communication <strong>structured in categories<\/strong> according to semantic and syntactic parameters.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate that the <strong>support products for the communication<\/strong> of high and low y la adaptaci\u00f3n del vocabulario<\/strong> se proponen los siguientes criterios:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Evolutionary approach:<\/strong>age-appropriate vocabulary.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Ecological approach:<\/strong>vocabulary needed according to the context.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Personalization based on the interests and reality of the user.<\/strong> Some of the categories that require greater customization, adding vocabulary from the beginning, are: people (relatives, colleagues, professionals &#8230;), places (places where you usually go and are not included in the default vocabulary), games and sports (toys or games that are of interest to the user).
