Project description:
Auchan Retail Spain incorporates in its supermarkets and hypermarkets Alcampo nationwide a series of pictograms of ARASAAC aimed at informing in a simple way about the exceptional measures that have been taken in stores.
These pictograms, located on counters, information stands, security, boxes, etc., allow all people to access and understand the information on equal terms, thus favoring inclusion.
Maintaining the appropriate distance, waiting behind the lines that mark said distance or influencing the mandatory use of gloves to pick up fruits and vegetables in bulk, are some of the messages that will be available with this visual communication system.
This system, which is incorporated in stores throughout Spain, has been proposed by the Alcampo de Nalón hypermarket in collaboration with the El Bosquín Public School, a school recognized as a Visual School in the north of Spain, whose professionals have reviewed the proposal and the messages to ensure that they are understood by those who have more difficulties to make the purchase.
For the development of the informative posters, pictograms have been used approved by the Aragonese Center for Augmentative and Alternative Communication ARASAAC.
There is still a long way to go, but this is a great example that together we can continue to break down barriers in communication and cognitive accessibility to achieve the real inclusion of all people in all areas.
Congratulations on the initiative to El Bosquín Public School and Auchan Retail Spain and thank you for trusting in our increasingly universal pictograms!!!
