Project description:
UNIVERSAL ACCESSIBILITY IN MISLATA CITY COUNCIL (VALENCIA)
The City Council of Mislata is carrying out a signaling process with more than 1000 pictograms of ARASAACof all its municipal dependencies and other public services,in addition to streets, squares and parks. The shops have also joined this municipal project and are receiving their corresponding pictogram according to the type of establishment.
The objective of this project is to achieve “Mislata is aninclusive and inclusive city, where we all have the same rights and opportunities, and where we feel comfortable regardless of our abilities,” they point out from the town hall.
The Department of Education proposed to use the ARASAAC pictograms, owned by the Government of Aragon, “whose drawings are currently the standards most used by the educational community.” They also add that “the pictograms are very useful not only for autistic children or children with special needs, but also for the elderly and migrant people.”
From ARASAAC, we convey our congratulations for this great work and our support to continue carrying out this work that promotes the right to communication and accessibility for all citizens of the municipality and visitors.
To carry out this initiative, pictograms from the Aragonese Portal for Augmentative and Alternative Communication ARASAAC, owned by the Government of Aragon, have been used.
