Project description:
The State Center for Personal Autonomy and Technical Aids (CEAPAT),with which theARASAACteam has collaborated on several occasions, coordinates a working group on cognitive accessibility and design for all in transport.
Among its objectives is to know the barriers and facilitators for the orientation and understanding in the spacesof the different means of transport from the user’s perspective.
In line with the work started a few years ago by the City Council of Malaga or the City of Santander, CEAPAT has prepared a brochure with pictograms of ARASAAC and photographs to facilitate communication in taxi trips through Madrid.
The brochure includes tourist attractions, mainly Madrid Capital, and the objective is tofacilitate interaction between the traveler with communication difficulties and the taxi driver.
The brochure can be very useful for tourists with and without disabilities, and will help taxi drivers to offer a quality service close to the citizen.
Currently, these are theorganizations and professionals that are part of the working group, although it is open to new participations:
– Plena Inclusión
– Madrid Regional Transport Consortium
– General Directorate of the Elderly. Madrid City Council
– Municipal Transport Company of Madrid
– Metro of Madrid
– Renfe Travelers
– Independent professionals.
A great initiative that we hope will spread to other cities.
