Since last year, the CEE San Antonio de Ceuta began its journey to facilitate compressible environments. Although the center had been using ARASAAC pictograms for a long time to work on access to the curriculum, language, leisure and communication with its students, they missed the approach of an adequate signage of the different spaces of the same.
For this reason, he began to work on a training project in the center,in which the main objective has been the awareness,on the part of all teachers, about the need to have understandable and facilitating environments for students.
The work is carried out taking into account that“not having understandable environments produce uncertainty, anxiety, dependence and passivity in people, limiting creativity and the ability to take initiatives and participation in social life”. (Tamarit, J and collaborators. Cognitive Accessibility in schools).
From the beginning, the need to agree on the ARASAAC pictograms that were going to be used was contemplated, making a firstchoice of the pictograms to begin with the signage of the different spaces of the school (pictogram, tactile signal and photo), r ealización of boards of socialnorms, the adaptation of the weekly menu,elaboration of the routines of personal autonomy and hygiene and the elaboration of boards for the realization of different activities of the school.
