Project description:
The Güell Palace has a specialized care and reception service for people with support needs who has the function of informing about everything related to the visit. This service detected that school groups or families with people with autism came to the visits and did not have enough knowledge and tools to be able to offer them a meaningful experience of the visit.
To improve the attention to the group of people with autism, they contacted the Aprenem Autisme Association that, in addition to training them in autism issues, were in charge of adapting the contents of the educational visit, “Explore Gaudí!”,and the family visit, “The secret documents of Gaudí”.
All the work has been adapted with the pictograms of the Aragonese Center for Augmentative and Alternative Communication ARASAAC,and was combined with pictograms and photographs made by the educational team of the Palacio Güell.
In the adapted contents, in addition to the explanation of the educational content, characteristics of the structure of the visits are also specified, since for people with autism it is essential to anticipate the time they will be in the museum and know what they will see and the people who will guide them.
