The Works and Equipment Area,through the Accessibility Office,in collaboration with the General Directorate of Mobility,through the Madrid Taxi Service,has created a communication support sheet for taxis that will provide travelers with speech difficulties with indications for the destination of the trip and payment. The document, which will also be useful for other contexts of difficult communication, is based on the use of ARASAACpictograms.
Travelers can easily indicate the destination of the trip (street, square, hotel, station, health center, leisure point, etc.) by indicating the corresponding pictogram and give more details through an alphanumeric board designed for it. At the end of the trip, the triptych prepared makes it easy to know the amount for making the payment, in cash or by card.
This solution, based on widely accepted good practices of accessibility in communication, will facilitate the effective interrelation between taxi drivers and travelers offering more confidence and security in the provision of the service.
The support sheet will be given to taxi license holders along with the 2021 fares, and can also be downloaded from Madrid’s Accessible Taxiwebsite.
