Project description:
In the continuous effort to continue improving visitor service and make universal accessibility one of the hallmarks of Valencia, Visit Valencia,in collaboration with ARASAAC and with the experience of the Valencian Association of parents of people with autism has made a tourist map of Valencia adapted with pictograms and inclusive posters to signal all kinds of spaces and facilities: Tourist offices, gardens, museums, theaters, beaches, hotels, restaurants …
The pictograms represent a new tool for families of people with Autism to prepare a trip to Valencia and for the tourism sector to make their business or service more accessible.
The pictograms can be downloaded freely and free of charge from here to be used as signage at the entrance of an establishment, in communications with customers, on the web, in social network profiles or any other support.
The tourist offices have their own pictogram, also translated into Braille, and some have an alarm system for people with hearing impairments, in an effort to offer a more comfortable and understandable experience to any traveler.
In this way, the tourist offer is approached to people with communication or language difficulties.
